In last week's newsletter I mentioned that Saturday was Macaroni Kid's 11th Anniversary. A group of Colorado MacKid publishers got together to celebrate in our Macaroni Kid Colors, catch up and share ideas. It's always great to get together with these awesome women, but we have to find a place to meet with something for everyone. Thanks to our Arvada publisher, Julie, we found the perfect spot to meet; Steuben's Uptown! If you haven't been, you're going to want to put this on your list of Denver eateries. It's located just off Pearl, on E. 17th Ave.
Steuben's has a cool, retro-diner ambiance with modern comfort food. Everything we tried was delicious, but I had a few favorites. I'm a big avocado fan so I wasn't sure about the avocado toast with radishes.. if you like avocado toast, you have to try it! The radishes gave the dish the perfect amount of "crunch" to balance the smoothness of the avocado, Green Goddess schmear, and yummy toasted ciabatta. My daughter is a fan of macaroni and cheese, (imagine that) so I had to try it, for her, of course. O..M..G! Pretty sure it's the best I've had. It's made with six cheese bechamel and a crispy panko topping. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Their prices are really reasonable too. You can splurge on a beautiful Conn. Lobster Roll or go with a huge $10 burger.

Steuben's Uptown is one of several Denver area restaurants, one of them being right next door; Ace Eat Serve. Ace serves Asian inspired dishes in a fun, casual atmosphere with several ping pong tables inside and out on their outdoor patio. This is a great place to meet friends and hang out. Kids are more than welcome, but this could be fun for a date night. |  |
I can't wait to head back to Steuben's with my family, and swing by Ace for a game of ping-pong after dinner!
