This Week in Macaroni Kid Longmont-Frederick

Martin Luther King Jr Day and More!

By Michele Pullo, Publisher and Editor of Macaroni Kid Longmont-Frederick-Niwot-Lyons January 17, 2020

Well, we're almost there!  Just about made it through the week.  Is it just me? Or is anyone else still trying to get back into the swing of things?  I hope that Macaroni Kid is the one email that makes your week a little easier.  Let me find family fun for you!  Each week you'll find local events for your kids, for your family, and for you!  I'm also working on putting together a fantastic, hyper-local summer camp guide to help you plan for summer.

Be sure to put this year's Macaroni Kid Summer Camp & Activities Expo on your calendar.  It will be on March 14th at Village at the Peaks!  We'll have amazing camps, programs, and classes for you to check out first hand while your kiddos play games, do crafts, and enjoy fun, local performers.  This will be our 4th year and each year it gets better and better!  If you know of a summer camp that should be included, let us know at michelep@macaronikid.com.

Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day!  I love that it's deemed a Day of Service.  It's so important for our kids to learn that service is something we should all take part in.  Not sure how to participate?

Here are a few ideas that are easy to do with your kids;

* Pick up trash at a nearby park, or field

* Help an elderly neighbor with groceries, mowing the lawn, shoveling snow, or have your kids make them a sweet card!

* Volunteer at a local food bank (whether it's on Monday or not, I'm sure MLK Jr. would appreciate it!)

* MLK Day of Service at Carbon Valley Regional Library - Firestone

* Clean out your garage and bring a load to Goodwill (keep suitcases and gym bags to bring to a foster care agency)

Celebrate his life and work at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Celebration at Silver Creek High School, or check out MLK Day Selma Film and Discussion at Carbon Valley Regional Library - Firestone.

Have a wonderful week!
