Top 5 Gaylord Rockies Features from a Local Mom and Her Daughter

The Summer of MORE at Gaylord of the Rockies

By Michele Pullo, publisher of Macaroni Kid Longmont-Frederick-Niwot-Lyons July 3, 2021

Gaylord of the Rockies is close by, but feels like a world away. They're pulling out all the stops this summer to offer families a visit filled with great activities for kids of all ages

I thought I'd share the top 5 favorite features from each of us, on our recent visit.

KIDS FAVORITE FEATURES~ Per my daughter

1. Great Snack Store(Rockies Marketplace) - Isn't it always about the snacks? You'll find candy, ice cream, sandwiches, breakfast burritos, sushi, and coffee.

2. Arapaho Springs Resort Pools - The first is an indoor pool with 2 great slides and a large jacuzzi with lifeguards on duty. The outdoor pool is nestled between 2 large jacuzzis and the lazy river. Lots of fun options here! There's a small slide that's perfect for younger kids, although my daughter (11) still enjoyed it. The Kona Ice truck was pretty popular too...

3. The Lazy River - My daughter loved this! She liked tubing as rapidly as she could through the waterfall and around the loop, passing me by with ease.

4. Animal Encounters -  Included; amphibians, reptiles and the coolest Parrot! Your kids can check out live animals at each station in the Grand Lodge.

5. S'mores! - Well that's a surprise...   There's a small fee for this, but totally worth it to roast marshmallows after a fun day at the pool. One pack is enough for 2 and so yummy! My daughter ran into a friend and they appreciated having plenty of room on the grass for cartwheels and flips.

MOMS FAVORITE FEATURES~

1. A lovely, super clean guest room with a comfy bed. This really is a nice hotel and I didn't have to do laundry!

2. The Lazy River - Who doesn't love a lazy river? As I mentioned, my daughter liked to speed ahead of me, but because it's a loop I just laid back and let the tide take me where it would.

3. The Arapaho Springs Bar and Grill - It really feels like a getaway when you can have an iced tea or a pina colada relaxing by the pool. After this past year it really was a treat! You can access the Bar and Grill from both pool areas.

4. Princess' Shiny Stash Scavenger Hunt - I think I got into this even more than my girl. It was fun exploring the resort to find hidden treasure chests based on the clues given in the scavenger hunt booklet. Don't miss this activity!

5. I love that Gaylord includes complimentary options in addition to their fee based activities. They have free evening movies on the weekends, just pick up your snacks at the Rockies Marketplace on your way. We managed to sneak in a round of miniature golf and on our next visit, I'd like to try their disc golf course. They also offer tennis and pickle ball!

6. I'm adding a 6th Favorite. The view in the evening at sunset is stunning! Whether you head outside to play Giant Jenga or Cornhole, or just sit by the fire and let your kids play on the lawn, you'll be happy you caught this amazing site to see.

Going to Gaylord of the Rockies reminds me of a cruise ship without the cramped quarters. There's always something fun for your kids to do!
